ATACAMA
Inspired by one of the most incredible places in the world.
I went to Atacama in 2017 and it was a great adventure. Pictures of the amazing nature only tell part of the story, you can’t imagine how powerful the energy of the desert is. The park is at altitude and the earth is salted. Almost no life is present and this creates an eerie and beautiful silence that is experienced nowhere else on earth.
This collection uses Jasper as the landscapes of the desert and lapis-lazuli as the sky. The triangular shapes, much present in Chilean fabrics and patterns, are also a strong feature of the collection.
SALAR
The Salar de Uyuni is known as the largest salt desert in the world. Located in southwest Bolivia, near cities like Uyuni and Potosí, it is about 12,000 km² in extent and is at 3,600 m altitude. This salt plain was formed in a slow process; for thousands of years there were lakes in this region, the water of the lakes then evaporated and resulted in the landscape in the desert that we see today.
To get to there, I had to travel 3 days by car, faced extreme climate changes, as well as high altitude sickness. I think it was the biggest adventure in my life and I highly recommend it. You stay offline, without any internet, in the middle of nowhere. Just you and nature...it’s amazing.
During the rainy season you can witness one of the most incredible scenes on earth. The rain leaves a thin film of water on the salt and transforms it into a mirror. I can’t explain in words how I felt when I arrived. When we got to the desert and it was mirrored, a friend said “I think we died and we are in heaven” and this might be the best description.
I create this collection inspired in this moment. I tried to translate it in the textures and colors. Textured silver representing the salt, the polished silver the mirror. With the white quartz as the endless salt desert and the blue topaz as the sky.
Little Black Collection
“Chanel inspired” the most elegant women that has ever been on this planet.
She said:
“One is never over-dressed or underdressed with a Little Black Dress.”
“Women think of all colors except the absence of color. I have said that black has it all. White too. Their beauty is absolute. It is the perfect harmony.” ― Coco Chanel , Chanel
The Little Black Collection, a collection of classic blacks but not that basic. Chanel had her "little black dress" that revolutionized fashion and after 1926, no woman was left without a black dress in the wardrobe. The color ceased to be of mourning color and became a symbol of elegance and savior of the motherland when we are in doubt of what to wear.
And if we love black in the wardrobe why not in the jewels?
The pieces are made of sterling silver, druzes and onyx.
My Love story
Short story, I couldn’t find anything I wanted for me and my husband to wear in our wedding ceremony. So I decided to create. I made my headpiece, necklace and earrings. For him I created a brooch. In addition, I created our own unique wedding bands.
These pieces were partly inspired by the superstitions that surround a wedding. The ARRUDA is a brazilian plant that is well known for protection and good luck and I used it as an inspiration for my head piece and the brooch for my husband. My husband is american and for this side of the tradition I got the “something blue”. For that I used the aqua marine and the blue topaz. Gems of the most gorgeous shade of blue, and the cabochon shape gave a vintage touch to the piece. The aqua marine is a stone that calms you down and protects. Blue Topaz a gemstone that helps to light our way, brings joy, generosity, abundance and health. It is also known as the stone of love and luck and helps us achieve our goals.
Weddings Bands
Tells our story. I’m from Brazil, he's an American. City of our love: Rio de Janeiro. In common we always had the mountains protecting us. My home state is known for their mountains and also his. Oh! How powerful nature is! This pair of rings was created with the silhouettes of the Serra do Curral from Minas Gerais, the Rocky Mountains of Colorado and the iconic geography of the Rio mountains.
AND...IN THIS PAST TEN YEARS I WAS ABLE TO TELL SO MANY GREAT STORIES.
There was a time I had to make handmade cover for a antique book...
...another time I was very pleased to be part of a 40th years wedding aniversary surprise. The husband gave this beautifull handmade set of emeralds to his wife...
...a daughters and mothers special gifts, special made wedding earings, engagement ring, a symbol of love to his Irish girlfriend, wedding bands, special rings for 14 bridesmaids and a special ring that was a grandma's memory to always be carried.
I also talked about love, dreams, romance, the night and the simple things of life.
